A classical sickle from the Austrian Franz de Paul Schröckenfux factory. Blade length is 50 cm. Great for trimming in confined spaces.
Although a new sickle is labelled by the manufacturer as “Ready to cut”, it is not exactly true. Peening of the sickle is required for easy ergonomic cutting. If you opt for the “Hand-peened” choice above, you will receive a tool whose edge has the paint removed along its edge and which is ground on a water-cooled grinder for consistent thickness. The final finish is by hand-peening using a specially adjusted hammer in at least 3 passes.
